John and I took Whellington to this show- his first ever overnight adventure. Sommer Hit (aka Sheldon) won the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trial with an 8.34. Big kudos in the press for Rolling Stone Farm, since he is 4th generation from our breeding program.
Whellington was a star! He loaded, trailered, and enjoyed his stall at the show. He was a real tourist, watching all the horses all day. He did the USEF 4 year old test the day we arrived. This was his third time ever in a dressage ring. The test is similar to First Level. He went in the warm up ring, went to work, went in the ring and scored 72.8% and third place. He could have been a little more forward, but we were so proud of him! He was up against horses that have already been competing in this test. His scores were 7 trot, 8 walk, 6.8 canter, 7.3 submission and 7.3 general impression. The following day, he was again super in the busy warmup ring. He did training level test 2, receiving a 67.857% (with an error) and third place. He did the materiale class, placing first with a 78.1%. He received 8 for walk and tro, 7.5 canter and 7.6 general impression. On Sunday, he really relaxed in the ring. In training level test 3, he got a 70.8% and second place. He was the only entry in the materiale, where he received a 77% (8 walk, trot, general impression, 7 canter).
Sommer Hit, owned by Alice Tarjan, was ridden by Lauren Chumley. He scored 83.4 In Saturday's preliminary test (counting 40%) and on Sunday in the Final test, he scored 8.4. Here are the links to the articles:
