Welcome S in 2006 at age 19

The 1987 imported chestnut Elite Hanoverian Stallion Welcome S (World Cup I-Grebina/Grande) will join fellow Hanoverian stallions Gold Luck (Grundstein I-Annette/Abundance) and Loerke (Lauries Crusador xx-SPS Worlddream/Weltmeyer) to complete the roster of stallions standing at Rolling Stone Farm for the 2006 breeding season.

The 17-hand Welcome S was named Champion Stallion in 1989 in Verden, Germany. He was trained from a three-year-old onwards by Olympic Champion Isabell Werth and successfully competed at Grand Prix Level with her. At one time, he was in first place in the world ranking of international dressage horses. He won a total of 89,951 Euros in his lifetime. His sire World Cup I, together with his grandsire, Grande, represent two of the most successful dressage sire lines. Besides Welcome, World Cup I offspring Without a Doubt (1987, by Argentan I) and Westerwald (1987, by Bolero) were also successful at the international Grand Prix Level. The damsire, Grande, is also from a well-established line that is represented by horses such as Grundstein I (sire of Rolling Stone Farm’s foundation stallion Gold Luck) and Graditz.

Welcome’s own achievements include: Münster 1995 Winner Grand Prix Dressage; Amsterdam 1996 Winner Grand Prix Dressage World Cup; Brussels 1996 Winner Grand Prix Dressage; Berlin 1996 Winner Grand Prix Dressage; Vlotho-Exter 1997 Winner Grand Prix Dressage; Bremen 1997 Winner Grand Prix Dressage; and Winner Kur on Music Frankfurt 1997.

Before April 1998, Welcome was strictly a competition horse and was not used for breeding. The first crop of foals was born in 1999 and rewarded with a super foal report. We now have photos of some of his offspring on his foals page. One of his first sons Sledgehammer (damsire Ladalco) was third in the foal championships at Champion Arnhem. His first offspring are now six-year-olds and express a lot of dressage ability. His three-year-old daughter, Trix DDH (damsire Donnerschlag), won the ability test in Varsseveld in 2003. His son Scotch (damsire Flemmingh) won the Gelderse Championship in 2004 at M Level. The full sister of Trix DDH, U2 DDH was second in the ability test for three-year-old dressage horses in Varsseveld. A son of Welcome (damsire Weltmeyer) was sent through the stallion selections in Den Bosch 2003. Additionally in the U.S., a 2005 Welcome filly out of a Thoroughbred dam was chosen as the top foal at the American Hanoverian Society Idaho inspection site because of her good movement and correct conformation.

Welcome S will continue to be available to outside mares. He is approved for breeding by the AHS, VhW, KWPN, Westfalen and GOV.

In 2006, Welcome's full sister Winergy was the AHS horse of the year for the Open Grand Prix division with a 65.000%. She is owned by Katie Hoefs and was bred by Klaus Schmoldt, Ger.
