She should grow up to be a very good dressage horse. We have given Piper away to Carly Graziano, so this is the last foal from Piper for us here at RSF. Carly has a smaller farm so she is better able to provide Piper with the care she needs now that she is nearly blind.
Fooaling report: What a surprise awaited us at feeding time. I had checked Piper late in the afternoon and her udder was flacid with clear yellow milk. I thought she would foal in a few days.
We have named this tall, leggy chestnut filly Ghold Nugget, since she is such a precious find. Piper was discovered to be nearly completely blind at her 14 day pregnancy check last year, and she had been fine when I bred her, so the onset of blindness was very fast. I had worried the most about this foaling, but it seems that Piper is handling everything well. She nickers a lot to Nugget, and we will put a bell on Nugget's halter so mom knows where she is. Piper is doing super with turnout. She totally trusts us, and she listens for the bell on Nugget's halter to know where she is. What a good girl!

Hi Jim and Mo!
Nugget was SO GREAT on the trailer ride home and unloaded like a big girl! She walked right into the stall and settled in to munching on some hay like it was no big deal - what a doll! I am so excited to have her and get to know her as she grows up. Thank you for breeding such a great girl!
Will get some pictures soon,
Allyson
