Champion of the Mare Performance Test at the MAHB inspection and winner of the MAHB silver cup trophy!

Whindlass went to the MAHB Mare Performance test on Nov. 4-6th, 2006. This was her first time off the property and she was super. In the free jumping chute, she knew her job and received a 7 for technique and a 7.5 for ability. In the under saddle portion, she received and 8 for rideability, 7.5 for walk and trot and 8 for canter. Her final score was a very good 7.64. She is a new Elite Mare Candidate! I will post photos as soon as I get them. She is very quiet and easy to ride with enough movement to win in the hunter ring or the dressage ring. She shows a hunter-type form and ability in the free jumping chute.

A high score at her inspection- 7.44! Whindlass was presented for her studbook inspection at our July AHS inspection. She received a very high score of 7.44 with 9's for frame and typiness and femininity, and 8's for neck and saddle position. All of her other scores were 7's. We had to withdraw her from the Mare Performance Test. She had fallen in free jumping practice the week before (over a cross rail, no less...just a bad step tripped her). She was a little sore in her knees and didn't pick up her legs over the jumps like she usually did. She looked a tad off in the trot, too, probably from being in the stall all night instead of out in the pasture, like usual. Well, if we still have her this fall, we will take her to the MAHB MPT and get it done then. Whindlass was named reserve top filly at her AHS inspection as a foal in July 2003. Her mother, EM Ghloria, bred by RSF, qualified for Elite Mare status at her mare performance test with high scores in the free jumping. Widmark won the bronze medal at the 2001 German Riding Horse Championships. Whindlass has very correct conformation and excellent movement, plus a friendly personality.

SOLD! Congratulations to Christine Felker of High Shoals, GA!

Show Results

Christine Felker sent me this photo of her and Lassie at the Good Horseman/Collecting Gaits Farm Three Horseman Dressage Show at the Georgia International Horse Park on March 7-8, 2009. Christine won the Adult Amateur Award for her score of 75.200% in Tr. test 4. Christine was also one of two riders to receive the Adult Amateur "Good Rider" award. She was awarded a show cooler for receiving an 8 in the Rider collective remarks in and AA class. Congratulations!

EMC Whindlass couldn't be better. She is starting lateral work (shoulders in, haunches in, half pass), and she continues to amaze us. She is really a packer- an older horse in a young horse's body. See the video here of Lassie under saddle taken the second time our new trainer, Beth rode her: http://media.putfile.com/Elite-Mare-Candidate-Whindlass-12-18-07 8/22/2007 See the photo taken at the LVDA Schooling show in June 2007. We took both Ghranada and Whindlass to a dressage schooling show on June 10th. Lassie behaved wonderfully in the warm up ring. It was her very first time in a dressage ring with the low ring fence and the judge under a tent. She was a pro! In her first test- training level test two, she got a third place and a 63.57%%. In her second time in the ring, she did training level test 4 and got a third place with a 64.4%%. She was getting a little tired. We got pretty busy preparing two colts for licensing and two other mares for the MPT, so we haven't shown since. I think if she hasn't sold, we'll take her to some fall recognized shows. She is consistently working in a first level frame now and has strengthened a lot. Feb. 2007- EMC Whindlass ended up in second place for the 2006 Walter Hartwig Prize. This AHS award is given to the best of the young North American-bred mares who complete both their inspection and the Mare Performance Test (MPT) in their three- and/or four-year-old years. It is presented to the mares who achieve the highest combined score in these tests. I am proud to say that every year since this award's inception, RSF has had a mare in the top 5. One year, we owned the winner, EM Dew Berry. See the photos of Whindlass taken by Jordan Koepke at the MAHB Mare Performance test at Morven Park. She was Champion of the Mare Performance Test and winner of the MAHB silver cup trophy!

Owner Comments

Hi Mo, Looking at your website, it looks like you have been busy. I love to see all your babies. I thought you might like to know the latest on Lass. We worked on our dressage, but as I moved up the levels, she seemed less interested. We got through third level, but never had her heart in it. I had the jumper trainer at the barn, where I ride, start to jump her. Well she was a natural and a star. Her very first jumper show she was reserve champion! I realized that it was her first love. She was so much happier jumping than any time she was in the dressage ring. I am too old to jump anymore! I sold her last month to a young girl who is eventing her. She took her to work with Dennie Emerson and he loved Lass. It makes me so happy to find her the right job. I miss her and all her big personality, but she is loved and happy. She is living in Winston Salem NC and I do get to see when she comes to Georgia for dressage lessons. I have purchased a wonderful Wurttemberger school master, who has no interest in even going over a ground pole! In the past six months he has helped me get both my bronze and silver medals. I hope you and your family all are well. Since I bought Lass, we also have had 4 grandchildren, which means ponies will have to come soon! I love seeing your babies and thought you might like to know where one of them is now. Trying to stay warm, and I am sure it is the same for you. Sincerely, Christine Felker

March 2009 Christine reports: At the show (Good Horseman/Collecting Gaits Farm Three Horseman Dressage Show at the Georgia International Horse Park on March 7-8) she was a star. I took her in training 2 and 4 both days. She tied for second on the first test and from there on she was on a roll. We got a 69.4% on the green horse test 2 ( horses 4-6 years old) and the second day she got a 74% on test 2 and a 75% on test 4!!! We got the high score for the show. The judges were Marilyn Payne and Debbie Rodriguez She just went in there and did her job. I have never had fun at a show. It was such a change to worry about how big my circles were and if she had enough jump in her transition rather than if she would go or leave the ring. People all thought she was an experienced horse that I took down a few levels. Thank you for letting me own such a wonderful horse. I know that when Karla can buy again tshe will come directly to you. Others are sure to follow. I just wanted to let you know how much she is loved and appreciated here. Thank you again and I will keep you updated. Sincerely, Christine FelkerHi Mo, I hope that you all have survived the winter. Spring has sprung in Georgia after 8 inches of snow covered the ground last Monday! I have not updated Lassie for you, because, there was nothing to tell except that I LOVE her and she is perfect. We put shoes on her when she got here, as we are in such a drought and the ground was so hard. I body clipped her, as it was so warm for her here. She is the best. This weekend I finally took her to her first show, so now I have something to tell. It was the Three Horseman Show at the horse park in Conyers. She was a star. I took her training 2 and 4 both day. She tied for second on the first test and from there on she was on a roll. We got a 69.4% on the green horse test 2 ( horses 4-6 years old) and the second day she got a 74% on test 2 and a 75% on test 4!!! We got the high score for the show. She comes out ready to go to work everyday. She is exactly as you had advertised her to be.When I get a horse sold I will be back to visit you. Thanks Karla Knisely (Christine's trainer)
