Mo,
I just wanted to drop you a line about Smitty (aka Ghreenland).
My vet told me not to start him until this fall, which I did. He is progressing well and now lunges (walk, trot, canter) with a snaffle and with the "german neck stretcher" at times. I have also stood next to him in his stall waving my arms and legs around and even placing a foot on his rump and neck. He was unimpressed. He has had a saddle on (no reaction, he was too busy eating my friend's shoe). The only thing that has gotten him the least bit excited was the first addition of boots on his forelegs and for the first time I saw his trot. Wow. He even lunged while they were working on the roof in the indoor arena without incident. But he is no deadhead, just very sensible for a baby.
He is a big food piggy though! He now has his first bridle and as soon as I get some pictures I'll email them to you. What a wonderful boy. Mark is very eager to come and look at the babies as soon as they "hatch" (his word) as he feels sorry that I lost out on dhaphne due to his slowness. So, expect us in the spring when the babies come. I am looking for a broodmare prospect that I will also ride and love. Thank you for your breeding efforts. I can't wait to have another.
Happy holidays to you and yours. Give all the horses a pat from me,
Sandhill
