10-2006 Hi, Mo, Sorry we didn't get a chance to visit at Devon, it gets so hectic. Our boy was star in the 6y.o tests and gave me the test of my life Thurs. night despite tornado warnings that eventually closed the show. We wound up winning that class w/ a 7.76, a score to be proud of! On Friday in the Dixon Oval we were both a bit more "up" and the tension knocked us down to 4th by a narrow margin. The judges commented favorably on Herf's power for his age and that I did not need spurs. We feel that as he progresses the combination of his power and that inner edge will make him absolutely brilliant. Now I just have to do my part! We're both enjoying a quick break and light rides right now then on to PSG! How are things with you? Kathleen Ghambade is fourth at the 2006 USEF/Markel Young Horse Championships!!!! On the first day he received 6.98 and was in 7th place (this counted as 40% of the total final score. In the finals, he placed 4th with a 7.48. This gave him a 7.28 total score. He received 7.5 for the trot, 6.8 for the walk, 7.8 for the canter, 7.5 for submission, and 7.8 for overall impression. Congrats to Kathy! She has done all the riding and training herself! We look forward to her report. Hi, Mo! Well, Herf and I are off to Yg. Horse Nat'ls . next week. We had a personal best last weekend in the 6 y.o. test w/ Anita Owen. Trot-9, walk, 8.7, canter 8. He was amazing! Her first comment was "This is the kind of horse that makes me go "Wow!"." We are also officially in for Devon! See you there, right?? Hi, Mo! Thought you might be interested in this! Ghambade is ranked 11th in the 2006 USEF/Markel National Young Horse Dressage Championships list of qualifiers for the FEI 6 year olds with a score of 7.63. With an unprecedented number of applications received (over 120 for 3 divisions), the competition was very tight. The top 20 horses will receive invitations to the Championship We are definitely going! Jim Koford will coach us!!! Kathleen 2005 USDF HOY 18th Training level- Ghambade (formerly Ghroucho from RSF) with a median score of 72.692%. He is also tied for 4th in the FEI 5 year old final standings with a median score of 7.8.

Owner Comments

Hi, Mo!

- Just got back from a Carol clinic out at Ann Guptill’s. Herf was amazing, if I can only learn to keep up with his e-normous gaits!!!

Hi, Mo!

Hope all is well with you and the farm! Sorry, I have been slow to correspond. Herf and I did our first Developing Horse PSG at March Magic in Williamston, NC and were thrilled to win our division as well as the open w/ a 63%! (9's on his extensions!) Paxton was a bit disappointing with some tension issues - he tries too hard sometimes- but we are looking forward to Raleigh next week ( On the wait list , but we are 2nd ). I leave next Tues. to head to Koford's for a tune up.

Take care,

Kathleen

Sept 2006
Hi Mo!
As you already know, we finished 4th overall in a very difficult situation. Jim Koford was awesome and raved about Herf and how much more powerful he is from behind. Scott helped me warm up on Sunday so Jim could head home. (I was the last ride).

It was wonderful practice for Devon and I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of my horse. He is getting so grown up! He was perfect the whole week- and even in the victory gallop he was sooo powerful, but containable! I'm excited for you to see him! I have to go feed my wonderful steed!
Talk soon!

Kathleen

June 2006
Hi, Mo!

I wanted to update you on Herf. I had plans to school w/ Scott at Paxton and then it became Raleigh. But as it turned out, I did neither. I have been in close contact with a friend of mine new to the Southern Pines area. I couldn't talk to her with out her singing Jim Koford's praises. He is originally from this area (Erie, PA). I also have clients here that previously worked with Jim when they lived in VA. I had met him at the Williamston show in March and he had offered the opportunity to come and stay and train anytime. Long story short, that's what I did. Herf and I just came off of 10 days in Southern Pines with Jim. Denise housed us both and I shipped in daily. As I picked up the trot in my first lesson, I believe his words were, "Holy Christ! What a great horse!"

Jim had his work cut out for him as old habits die hard and I had fallen into a few w/ a previous coach. He absolutely swooned over Herf and was wonderful at reading between the lines. He also offered me a lot of extra riding, Don Principe being my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed Jim and Becca and am relieved to have found someone I'm confident in to help me.
I know I'm gushing, but you shouldve seen the movement we got, the quality of the changes (tempis will be easy), and the swing!

Jim says PSG in a year. I'm making plans to go work with him at Dressage at Lexington in July. Any chance you'll be there?

Hope things are somewhat slowing down for you and that you're not too exhausted!

Kathleen
August 2005
Hi, Mo! Sorry for being so slow to respond. I wanted to let you know that Ghambade (Ghroucho) has had a terrific year with scores as high as 8.4 in the 5 y.o. test! Last time out ,the walk scored a 9, trot 8.5 (will be a 9 also when he develops more scope in the shoulder) and canter an 8 due to some tension and a flying change! I seriously debated about entering Devon and the decision was made for me when his back got sore. He had hulked out of everything I have and so we bought a saddle instead of doing Devon. Disappointing, but I had no choice. We are off to region 2 finals on 9/7 for Trg and first level and I have applied as a rider for Hilltop's clinic w/ Scott and Steffan Peters in Oct. If we're accepted maybe you can come ???! Herf , as we call him ,is truly an exceptional horse. I think you will be proud !

I will keep you posted!

July 2005

Hi, Mo!
It has been ages since we've been in touch, (don't know if you remember- I met you thru Jeannie Poindexter when I was a w.s . for Ann Guptill- I showed a Bruderhertz at DAD).

Any-way, but I wanted to give you an update on Ghroucho (Gold Luck x Taenzerin)- currently competing as Ghambade. At age 5 he is a solid, gorgeous, 16.3 and growing. He has been slow to develop, but since mid-winter has really settled and has been on an amazing uphill swing . What a blast to ride! I like to say, "Someone flipped the warmblood switch." At his first ever show -Lake Erie College in March of this year, he was high score of the show with a 76% at Training Level 2. He settles right into the horse show scene without so much as a fuss and floats down the center line. Every judge has commented on his tremendous power and he has earned several 9's for gaits! Thus far, he is nearly undefeated and has been Champion or reserve every time out at training and first levels. We are looking forward to the 5 y.o test at Grand Haven the end of this month. Will keep you posted!!

I am looking for another GL baby to get started, probably a weanling, Keep me in mind!
