Named Reserve Top Colt at his Inspection!

"Rocky" is a 16.1 hand bay gelding with a blaze (beautiful head!) and 4 white socks. Looks to have a HUGE stride. Very handsome. Full siblings have shown promise under saddle and have had much success in the breed shows. A Rolling Stone Farm homebred, he is by Gold Luck out of Elite Mare Whitney Q.

Rocky is super under saddle. His walk and canter are very big and elastic, just like his mother Elite Mare Whitney Q who received 9's for her walk and rideability. He is balanced and rhythmical. He shows great rideability and has already been to an overnight clinic with Scott Hassler at Hilltop Farm, where he behaved like an older horse. He shows excellent hunter form over fences in the free jumping chute and has been jumped a few times under saddle. He has a show record in the dressage ring already- see below. Isn't he cute? This is a super one!

SOLD! Congratulations to Jocelyn Mitchell of New Tripoli, PA!

Rocky has further grown in height, like many of the later maturing Gold Luck offspring do. He is now 16.2+. He and Jocelyn showed locally in schooling shows. Their show season culminated at the Garden State Classic at the NJ Horse Park on 10/11-12/2008. 1st pl tr 4 71.2% 4th pl tr 3 68.8% 4th pl tr 3 62.8% 4th pl tr 4 64.8%

Rocky has been sold. Congratulations to Jocelyn Mitchell of New Tripoli, PA. Good luck in the show ring with him! Check out how much Rocky has grown! He is now at 16.2 1/2 hands. This week we played hunter on Tuesday, where he jumped everything in my friend's indoor ring, quietly. These were REAL jumps with flowers and colors like he had never seen before. Then on Thursday, he went to a dressage clinic with Jim Koford, where he was worked in a more active uphill frame. There were short moments of heading towards "WOW" self carriage with uphill, expressive gaits. For those who doubt, I have a video of it all. This is a super horse!A German journalist named Gabriele Metz visited the farm and took these photos of Rocky. Thank you, Gabriele! Rocky went to his first Recognized Dressage Show today (LVDA at the Bucks County Horse Park), and he was a SUPER STAR! In Training Level Test 1, under judge Anita owen, he received first place with a whopping 76.818%! He is still a little green in the ring, which makes Tiffany and I wonder how high his scores will be when he is steadier! He received lots of 8's- both walks, both canter circles, plus a few more. He received 8's on gaits and impulsion and Tiffany got an 8 for her riding. In Training Level Test 3 (a little bit of a stretch for our 3 y.o., but I thought we "might" be able to qualify for the BLM championships), under judge Kem Barbosa, he received first place and a 68.333%. This score was achieved despite a couple of bobbles with 2 4's for a canter depart and circle, and a 5 for the other depart. Imagine what his scores will be when these go away with a little more ring time! Once again, he received 8 for his gaits. He was the youngest horse in the show, and was the high score of the entire show and Training Level Champion! We went to Dressage at Devon this year and showed him in two under saddle classes. He received 6th place in both. In the class in the Dixon Oval, he went in with NO WARMUP and never put a foot wrong. This horse is one of the best I've bred. He has it all- rideability, gaits, personality of a puppy. On June 11, Rocky went to his very first dressage show ridden by Tiffany Mohr, our farm trainer. It was a very low key local schooling show. It was his very first time in a dressage ring seeing the short fence and the judge in the horse trailer and his third time off the property. He was a star! Since we were unsure of whether he would remember how to steer and wondered if he would stay in the ring, he was entered in three classes- intro 1 and 2 and training level test 1. In intro 1, he was a little unsure and unsteady, but still managed a 63% and second place with an 8 for the free walk and a few bobbles. In intro test 2, he was totally into the job at hand, was unafraid of the judge's box and acted like a much older, experienced horse. He looked so elastic at times, it was thrilling to watch. He received a first place with a score of 73.33% and the show high score for the day! He got a 9 for his free walk, and 8's for his gaits and three trot movements. In training test one, he won the class with a 68.63% with 8's for the free walk, trot circle right and final halt. He was a very good boy at the canter, too! What a bright future this horse has!

Hi Mo, By now I am sure that you have been told that amid many tears and much sadness Rocky was euthanized at Mid Atlantic last Friday. It has been a devastating time though I know that I did everything for Rocky that could be done and sharing it with others and hearing their stories is making it all a little more bearable. It all started when Rocky fell in a muddy, flat, dry lot at my trainers on Friday Feb 27th but he was still able to walk and trot though he was lame on his left hind. I bought him home on Tuesday since any training was unlikely to happen and we promptly left to go on a family vacation skiing in Breckenridge. Sue thinks that he had a problem getting up during the night on Saturday and by Sunday morning he was unable to bear weight on his left hind and once again Quakertown were called. He then spent time at Quakertown Vet Hospital where they were unable to help him so on Wednesday I then took him to Mid Atlantic Vet Clinic in New Jersey as they could do bone scans. It was found that he had a complete fracture of the pelvic floor near the hip joint, probable multiple fractures elsewhere in the pelvis, a damaged hip joint and probable damage to the main ligament that could have helped hold everything together. In the end the decision to release him from his pain was an easy one but he was such an integral part of my daily life that it will take some time to come to terms with everything. However life will go on, the barn still needs doing and my little thoroughbred Mac is providing and great mane to cry on. Wayne, is being a superb support, my trainer called last night and we had an encouraging talk and, as Joanna my daughter says, every cloud has a silver lining, one just has to find it. Rocky was a wonderful horse with a perfect temperament and he taught me a great deal. At our last show together, the Garden State Classic, we pinned in virtually every class and even won one of the Training Four classes with a 71.2% and he qualified to compete in the 09 championships. In 09 my plan had been to also qualify him at First Level and move on to Second Level by the end of the year as he already had canter/walk/canter transitions nailed, all his canter work was unbelievably balanced and finally we had just started to get that long awaited spectacular shoulder in. I am so sad that my ride is over but he will always be a part of my life and my dressage learning process. Thank you for breeding such a great friend, partner and superstar. Jocelyn
