Giadonna has the distinction of being the only horse my husband ever bought. I had requested a videotape of her going under saddle and was quite impressed. While I was in the hospital, Jim purchased her as a surprise for me. In 2001 as a four year old, she was inspected, scoring 7’s straight across the board. She also did the MPT at the same time and here is where what I had seen on the tape came through. She scored a total of 7.61 with 8’s for rideability, trot, and jumping ability. All the other scores were 7’s. She received the high score MPT ribbon for our site.

Giadonna’s dam is from the legendary Donnerhall/ Pik Bube nick and was an Elite Mare herself. Donnerhall, holds the highest dressage breeding value index (271) of all stallions. He placed second among 70 stallions at his performance test and went on to become DLG Champion in 1986. Donnerhall won more than 65 FEI Level and Grand Prix competitions and competed successfully until he was retired at 17-years of age. Donnerhall's remarkable success as an international competitor and breeding stallion has made him one of the most successful dressage stallions in the world today. With over 77 approved sons (all registries), 450 broodmares, 84 of which are State Premium, and over 636 competition horses, he has made a tremendous impact on the sport horse breeding world. Pik Bube I is the best known and was the most successful son of the top Celle stallion, Pik König. He was an outstanding competition horse winning 11 of the 12 Grand Prix dressage competitions under Herbert Rehbein. He was retired from competition due to his popularity and demand at stud. Pik Bube I was a versatile sire producing top dressage horses and international show jumpers, as well as highly prized breeding stock. He has 13 approved sons (Hanoverian), 25 State Premium daughters and numerous successful competition horses. His breeding values have proven accuracy: dressage: 158 points, show jumping: 127.
