Sadly, Dew Berry lost her foal this morning....
We found the foal dead in the shed this morning. It was a chestnut colt with a star and a hind sock. DB didn’t have any signs of distress- no bagging, hindquarter dropping, so it was a total surprise. She actually didn’t even have any milk after it was born. It looks as if it was a uterine body pregnancy. From what I’ve read, there is no prevention or solution other than to abort the pregnancy early on. I am so bummed! DB seems fine. She didn’t think it would live and formed little attachment to it. |
