Jim and I travelled to Vechta, Germany once again this year to watch the Oldenburg Stallion Licensing and to visit our friends and see SPS Rotissima and her Quaterback colt who did so well at the Foal Show and the German Championships. This year, we purchased a 2 1/2 year old licensed stallion by Sir Donnerhall out of St. Pr./El. St. Farina who is by Feiner Stern. His grandmother is also a St. Pr./El. St. by the famous Pik Bube. We were bidding against none other than Paul Schockemohle. When he saw we were from America and bidding against him, he stopped his bidding. When we shook his hand afterward and thanked him for the opportunity to be able to purchase this colt, Paul said, "That's OK, I have spent too much money on horses lately." (Yah, right- 15 million Euro is rumored as the purchase price on Totilas!). We are making the arrangements for shipping and quarantine right now. See the video of him posted here, courtesy of Stephanie Law of Oldenburghorseweb (note Paul S behind us bidding):
